- Donna: a highschool student who feels trapped by her suffocating home life and her overprotective older sister. Away from home, Donna seeks teenage thrills with her friends Becky and Vivek, but gets more than she bargained for when the trio become kidnappers in an amateur detective game gone wrong.
- John: a middle-aged single parent overworked. Burdened by the debts and pressures of being a single parent, John jealously pines for the free and easy life of his single twenty-something neighbor Jack. When the couple unknowingly face a vengeful stranger, a cursed artifact threatens to transform their lives forever.
