CD Projekt RED has appointed a new director for Cyberpunk 2077, Gabriel Amatangelo, who had joined the team in January 2020 as Creative Director. Amatangelo will replace Adam Badowski – head of the study -, which will allow the latter to focus his attention on the company now that the Polish study seeks a strategy of several AAA developments in parallel, among which is the next adventure of The Witcher. Prior to this role, Amatangelo was director of design on the DLC for Dragon Age: InquisitionTrespasser Y Jaws of Hakkon– and was lead designer on several expansions of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Even if Cyberpunk 2077 launched last December, Amatangelo still has work ahead of him. The studio is still releasing numerous updates that will fix bugs and correct some other design or experience flaws with which they hope to bring the game “to a state we can be proud of,” CEO Adam Kiciński said in April. This delayed planned downloadable content, but promise to arrive sometime. In addition, the studio has yet to release next-gen versions for Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 that take better advantage of the hardware in these systems.

Cyberpunk 2077 responsible changes

This is not the only change between game directors. Earlier this month Konrad Tomaszkiewicz dimiti de CD Projekt Red after the Accusations of harassment in the study even though the investigation found him not guilty. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, director of missions, has also announced his departure from CD Projekt RED after more than a decade to seek “new adventures”.

For the moment Cyberpunk 2077 is still removed from the PlayStation Store and they do not know when to return to the digital store. “Unfortunately I have no new information on this. We are still in conversation and with each patch the game improves with visible progress“explained the performance study on PS4 that led to its temporary removal from digital distribution.
